Cross SUP

Cross SUP® is a multi-level cross training program for balance dependent and endurance water sports. This low impact training program was designed to develop your: core, overall strength, agility, endurance and is unlike any other paddle training or cross training program!

Athletes today cross-train to keep muscles guessing and increase flexibility, tendon strength, agility and endurance. Weekend athletes often encounter nagging pains and injuries, which usually are the result of improper training and exercise form. All professional athletes work with personal trainers. Why? Trainers are objective and provide immediate feedback on proper or improper ergonomics.

Christian Cook

Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Christian now lives in Saint Petersburg, FL, with his wife Cindy, and his three boys: Kaleb, Noah, and Max.

Christian is a Personal Fitness Trainer, World Paddle Association (WPA) Certified Level 3 Instructor, Certified Lifeguard and is CPR/AED/First-Aid Certified.

Christian began surfing in 2006, stand up paddling in 2007 and outrigger canoe paddling in 2010 and has been hooked ever since. He is passionate about being active, and helping others get paddle ready.  In 2007, he developed his unique training approach for himself, and now shares Cross SUP® with his athletes, which promotes personal water performance development.

WHAT DOES FAMILY STEADY MEAN?
Always put family and friends first and everything else falls into place.  Paddling together allows you to be  part of something bigger than yourself.

HOW DO YOU TRAIN?
Every athlete’s training regimen is unique; I train some of my athletes in the gym once a week, others even more on and off the water.  Personally, I train every day in various intensities and disciplines.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Inspiration is an unpredictable gift. Sometimes it’s when people accomplish impossible dreams, but for the most part something as small as someone running in the rain motivates me to no end.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MOST MEMORABLE RACES?
Molokai to Oahu, Maui to Molokai, Chattajack, Florida Cup, Causeway to Causeway, Sharkbite, Blackburn Challenge.

Some of us are in our teens; some are in our 60’s.  Some have been athletes our entire lives; some not so much.  Some have been paddling on the water for years; some only for months.  Some have families who have lived in Florida for generations; some of us are recent transplants.

All of us are passionate about water sports and performance.  All of us work incredibly hard every time we are in the gym or on the water.  All of us believe in each other and push one another to always be our best.

We consider each other our “water brothers and sisters”.  Every moment we spend together is a blessing.
